Insect-like horrors unlike any other ever seen, the Changelings are a race of lifeforms sustained by feeding off of love (though the foods consumed by Equestrians offer equal nourishment), with the ability to transform themselves into any Equestrian life-form they desire to infiltrate whole societies and decimate them from the inside, a hive-mind disturbingly similar to that of the Borg's, and horrifying organic technology formed from their own offspring, whether they be normal Drones or potential Hive Kings and Queens. When the Changeling War ended the Swarm was declared destroyed, while a Changeling Queen raised by Fluttershy from infancy would result in the formation of a Changeling Alliance, one that abandoned the organic horrors of its old technology and embraced the more mechanical technology the rest of Equestria was using, eventually joining the New Lunar Republic during the events of the Civil War. But the Swarm is now rising again, led by the wicked Queen Chrysalis, killed in the Battle of Canterlot, the first battle of the Changeling War, and brought back by powerful technology unknown to Equestria. If the Confederation is to survive, they must put aside their differences with their enemy, the alien Royal Canid Empire, and fight back against them... and the forces of the Shivans.

The Swarm's Flag is designed to give a sense of oneness--one with the swarm, that is. This is one of only two flags that have one color as a background, and since this one's the flag of a race of evil insectoid Ponies, it's a sickly shade of green. That shade of green also represents the hive-mind of the Changelings--their magic is always green in color and it's even the eye color of their leader-caste. The text is gray for three reasons--one, to further accentuate the lack of individuality in the Swarm, two, to emphasize their emphasis on organic technology and their... *ahem* Changeling Resources, and three, because the idea is the words are written in blood--gray, abnormal, and disgusting Changeling blood, to be exact ("WHAT?! The workers are expendable!" --Queen Chrysalis), to create a feeling of horror (yes, I know, it's Changeling blood, but it's still blood!). Fittingly, the font is called Face Your Fears.

This flag mildly creeps me out, primarily because this is how I envision the Changelings as a whole, not so much their Alliance as much as their Swarm.
